TOO HARD :(

oh yeah, if you notice that my pencil doodles look shittier/messier than usual, it's because i somehow lost both of my erasers, so i've been doing stuff without erasing haha

hitmonchan is serious and grouchy and super strict about staying in shape. the other fighting types are like whoa relax a little and she's like, nope


flaaffy is a distant sort of person who's always in her own world. she walks around all day listening to her headphones.
i dunno why my style changed for each of these pictures


tigerboat is seriously going to murder me if i don't talk about my characters, so i'm going to do that a bit and try to not delete everything and leave the internet forever out of embarrassment or something

anyway, before i say anything, let me just say that my characters are seriously under-developed and also don't really have any sort of plotlines going on that lead anywhere. i've had loads of these characters in my head for years, but i've just never had anything set in stone. this is a large part of why i never really talk about them, actually, but maybe if i just present them how they are and keep doing doodles etc, then that'll help things develop (and also prevent tiger from strangling me to death)

so, tal is part of this group of characters i've had since i was about twelve, and for one reason or another i've always kind of considered her the main character, even though i'm not totally sure how true that is since i don't really have a plot going hahahaha. but anyway, she's about 16, and is currently living with her older sister, belle. they don't have parents YEAH I KNOW SHUT UP and are living in a sort of dumpy apartment in a sort of dumpy area of town.

tal is a bully. she's one of the bad kids in school, all barely doing her work and playing pranks and stealing money from other students and going to detention and occasionally getting in fights. all that sort of stuff. probably has to go to summer school. she has a reputation for being scary/a jerk/punching the shit out of people, but she lost about a million cool points the day she decided to defend ron, a massive nerd and resident punching bag.
she was always a handful who loved pranks, but never really got to bully level until she and belle lost their parents.

when tal isn't stirring up trouble, she's a fairly lazy person who has a cool sort of attitude. she doesn't really think about the future or consequences, figuring it'll get there when it gets there; asking about college/careers/whatever will just make her smile and shrug, and then ignore you if you continue to lecture. it's not as though she doesn't understand, it's just that she doesn't care and doesn't want to listen to people trying to make her change. she's a stubborn person who insists on paving her own path, but that sort of attitude doesn't come without blind spots.

one thing tal does care about is belle. she knows belle is stressed, and while tal isn't the sort of person who goes for outright shows of affection, she is a bit more gentle/friendly toward her than other people, has a part-time job to help out or something. she avoids telling whole truths about her life to spare belle the extra worry.


tal's sister, about late teens/early 20's. belle is about the opposite of tal, meaning she is a complete crank who is never without a dry, sarcastic remark. she frowns so much that co-workers/classmates have a laugh wondering if her face is just stuck like that (and have plenty of other negative comments for when she's not in the room, i'm sure).

while she has an outside like ice, belle is actually a very, very, very nervous person. she was always pretty serious and reclusive just naturally, but ever since losing her parents (and btw i'm not totally sure how they lost them, it's pretty sketchy), she's been suddenly stuck with responsibility that she's never truly had was not at all prepared for. she feels like she has to be a parental figure for tal rather than just an older sibling type, and is, deep down, never truly sure of what she's doing. also, there's probably a YOU'RE NOT THE SAME WHY ARE YOU ACTING LIKE THIS sort of resentment from tal, etc

however, belle is so wrapped up in her (and tal's) own problems and worries that, when it comes to everything else, she has a constant mantra of "i don't give a shit." someone doesn't like her? whatever. someone has a problem? it's not her's. no, she doesn't have any change to spare. she has a slightly... i guess selfish outlook on life, the EVERYONE'S GOTTA DEAL WITH THEIR OWN SHIT sort. she's put up a wall made of reinforced concrete and bears and that's how she likes it, because she doesn't need anyone and never did

but deep down
i'm sure she really wishes she had some help ;_;

fun fax: belle is my oldest character who i still think about. the first version of her popped up when i was, like... ten or something, i think. maybe eleven. you don't wanna know what her earlier versions were like


huge nerd, about 16 or 17. ron is the awkward, shy type who is made fun of a lot and has no idea how to talk to people and makes geeky references that nobody gets OHHH GODDD

ron wants to invent things, and he comes from a very well-off family who supports his interests. since he's so shy and quiet, people tend to assume that he's dumb and has nothing to say, but he is actually rather bright and will talk your ear off if you get him on a subject he's interested in (probably to the point of annoying people). he's a very trusting person, and on the clingy side; get him talking ONCE and he wants to be BFFs.

so, he met tal when she fought off some dudes who were bullying him (maybe at summer school, where he's taking classes because nerd). i imagine that both parties were totally confused while tal was just like WELL WHAT'S THE PROBLEM and generally avoided the topic, and she kept sort of being friendly toward ron (which he actually IS suspicious here since she's a noted bully and has probably bullied him a few times). eventually he does warm up and invites her over to his house etc, and my plan for that whole thing was that tal was basically using ron at first, like she was only his friend because his family has money and she wanted good food (which she probably took extra to sneak home and say that ron "gave" it to her or something) and proper cooling/heating and all that stuff she missed. however, as she spends more time with ron, she starts to like him more as a person and they become actual friends.

ron secretly has a crush on her, but it's probably not something that'd really come up.



so yeah i thought i was just going to write a couple of sentences for each character, but this turned out tl;dr as all hell. i am not nearly done talking about my characters (and there's still more charas for this group), but i'm going to break it up because i still need to do the pics and also i seriously have over 20 characters and nobody is going to read all that shit in one post
in fact, i kind of doubt anyone is going to read THIS (aside from tiger, who is not putting away those murder plans until all of my OCs are talked about)

ahh, thank you! i was going to do bigger things that weren't full-body, but then i figured that the chibi sort of thing would be faster and would show people their whole design, so i went with that. i think it makes them more expressive, too.
